The View From Back Here
By Cody Smith
Take a step back & give time to reflect, respect the here & now and the fact we have a neck, with a head on top & don't stop soakin' it in, ‘cause its that instant infinity that comes from within... and my friend? Be kind until the end, but don't forget to enjoy the view, remember to mend damage done & start every day as new... and to always have fun, be a father-mother-brother-sister-daughter or a son, but don't forget to live this life, 'cause we only get just one...
And try & do it right, despite argument & fight, choose to see light, instead of dark, attack ruthless like a shark, for those things that ignite that spark, inside, throw away jealousy & pride, & realize, there's no reason to hide from this truth, & if we teach it to our youth, then we'll have no excuse, to say we didn't do any-thing 'about mothers earths abuse.
"Leave it ca-pa-ble hands" as they say, and "where's there's a will, then there will be a way", but know it's about memories & not about pay, but hey, it boils down to belief, so believe, attachment causes grief, so release, let go, find peace, go slow, count snow, throw stones into a lake, but bro, serious-ly, between you & me, we need to set an example for the whole world to see.
It’s like little tiny actions, then eventually there's change, like the first time seein' fractions, you might think of it as strange, but understand that it's as simple, as a smile that you exchange, passing someone on the street, a 'hey, how's it going?' to someone that you meet, a kiss on the forehead, only kindness you secrete, from a nice honest gesture, to something more concrete, like becoming a coach, a teacher, or a friend, becoming bamboo instead of oak & learning how to bend, and knowing with patients and persistence there's no message we can't send.
But in order to teach, we must first be taught, the limits we’ve reached, the battles we’ve fought, the past we’ve had, in which it has brought, us to where we stand now, decide what we ought, to make into a vow, cause like it or not, opportunity is like the bullet, we only get the one shot.
So point and squeeze, and believe, with a bit of aim, there's nothing we can't achieve, but greatness, but know it comes from rollin' up our sleeves, to make this, dream a re-al-it-y, you gotta hate this, to love it, hold nothing else above it, and to all the haters doubtin'- you can tell 'em to fricken shove it.
And take a step back...
